Product Overview
Sponge Piano is a unique piano library that combines a Cramer upright piano with the unconventional technique of using a human thumb and bathroom sponge for sound production. This results in a woody, thuddy timbre that retains the emotional weight of a traditional piano while introducing a distinct character, making it suitable for a variety of genres, from intimate ballads to experimental compositions.
Details
The library features over 4,500 24-bit binaural samples, recorded using the Jecklin Disc technique, ensuring a rich and immersive sound. It includes a wide range of articulations, such as legato, octave up, and note-off options, alongside unique effects like record crackle or tape hiss. The instrument is designed with four randomized round-robin layers to enhance playability and realism.
In version 2, the sample set has been extensively re-edited and polished, incorporating around 3,000 new samples. The engine offers a multi-layered GLUE control for compression and saturation, a drag-and-drop MIDI recorder, and 50 snapshots for quick access to various sound settings. Additional controls include velocity sensitivity adjustments, note attack and release settings, and a selection of effects like transient shaping and reverb, allowing for a versatile workflow in both studio and live settings.
