The instrument features a Harmonic Morphing Engine that enables the manipulation of any audio sample, from drum loops to ambient noise. The main interface includes a Flow Panel for experimentation, where users can easily adjust parameters and hear immediate changes. The Harmonics Panel allows for detailed control over formant filters, while the Synth Panel provides comprehensive synthesis options, including ADSR envelopes and low-pass filters.

Flowstate also includes an FX Panel with user-configurable effects inserts, offering a selection of 26 different effects such as reverb, delay, and distortion.
