Product Overview
Geosonics II by Soniccouture merges high-fidelity environmental recordings from sound recordist Chris Watson with an advanced synthesis engine. The instrument captures the intersection of nature and electronic sound design, turning recordings of wind, ice, wires, and marine environments into playable, evolving textures. Redesigned from the original Geosonics, this edition introduces new field material, a revised interface, and a suite of generative tools that enable movement and variation without external sequencing. It is aimed at composers, sound designers, and artists seeking organic atmospheres that shift between realism and abstraction.
Details
The core of Geosonics II is a three-element architecture: a Watson field-recording layer and two additional synthesis layers drawn from Soniccouture’s tone sources. Each can be soloed or blended via the Prism vector pad, which continuously morphs between them for evolving transitions. Per-layer controls include envelopes, multimode filters, LFOs, and pitch options, while micro-tuning support allows alternative scales. Users may also load their own samples into any source slot, extending the palette beyond the included material.
The content library contains 115 curated recordings—50 newly added for this version—spanning natural environments such as arctic wind, forest, and undersea textures. Over 450 presets illustrate both the acoustic and hybrid potential of the engine. Three generative modules expand performance possibilities: Jammer (pattern generator and arpeggiator), Weaver (time-shifted strand generator for rhythmic motion), and Phraser (phrase modulation for evolving melodic contour). Together they create self-animating textures responsive to input harmony and timing.
Signal processing is handled through a configurable Effects chain—with selectable insert processors, a four-band EQ, and a convolution reverb named Space. The Space module employs Watson-derived impulse responses, allowing the instrument to inhabit the same acoustic world as its recorded sources. Fine control over mix, pre-delay, and spectral balance helps integrate Geosonics II within wider arrangements.
The instrument operates in Kontakt 6.6 or later (full or free Player) and supports NKS / Komplete Kontrol hardware mapping. Designed for speed and depth in equal measure, Geosonics II excels in ambient scoring, installation sound, and any project needing textures that feel alive—bridging environmental authenticity and electronic synthesis within a single playable framework.
