Product Overview
Nyckelharpas features two distinct models of the traditional Swedish keyed fiddle, capturing the unique timbre of both the standard viola-pitched instrument and the cello-pitched oktavharpa. The library offers an intimate sound, enhanced by sympathetic strings that add resonance and depth, making it suitable for both folk and contemporary scoring.
Details
The library includes a variety of articulations such as bowed, pizzicato, and key-off sounds, all recorded with close and room mic setups. The close mics consist of a stereo pair of U87s for the cello and Coles ribbons for the viola, while room ambience is captured with a stereo pair of U48s. This setup allows for a rich blend of detail and space in the sound.
With a focus on expressive performance, the instrument features controls for sympathetic resonance, key noise, and a generative arpeggiator called the Jammer, which facilitates creative sequencing. The effects panel offers a modular insert chain with 16 effect types, allowing for extensive sound design possibilities. The library is designed to be flexible, making it suitable for a range of musical contexts from traditional to experimental.
