Product Overview
Alphorn captures the essence of the traditional Swiss instrument, blending natural tones with a unique character. This library features a large wooden alphorn, recorded on location to evoke the instrument's rich heritage, producing both soft, silky sounds and powerful, resonant shouts.
Details
The library includes two microphone positions: a close mono setup for clarity and a stereo configuration positioned about two meters away for a more ambient sound. Articulations are accessible via keyswitches, allowing for sustain, marcato, staccato, and sforzandi. The instrument also features a 'Growl' control, adding a distinctive texture to higher velocity notes.
Two modes are available: 'Natural' mode, which plays only the instrument's inherent harmonics without tuning to modern scales, and 'Extended' mode, which expands the playable range to include additional notes, albeit without true legato. This flexibility makes the Alphorn suitable for both authentic monophonic lines and richer polyphonic textures. The interface is straightforward, with basic EQ and IR reverb controls to shape the sound further.
