Details
The library features a wide array of instruments, including strings, brass, woodwinds, and unique folk instruments like the nyckelharpa and hurdy-gurdy. The strings section includes two distinct ensembles: The Classic Octet and The Traditional Sextet, each offering a variety of articulations, including multi-layer legato, dynamic sustains, and innovative techniques like circular bowing and cellular longs. The Classic Octet is recorded with three mic positions—Close, Outriggers, and Room—providing flexibility in mixing.
The brass and woodwinds, known as The Callers, incorporate traditional articulations enriched with Celtic playing styles, while The Mystics section features a blend of flutes that adds a unique timbre. The library also includes The Blaggards, a collection of folk instruments, and The Hosts, a choir ensemble that offers haunting vocal textures. Each section is designed to inspire creativity, with performance-based patches and evolving textures that can be easily manipulated through the intuitive GUI.
Albion Solstice also introduces The Cassette Orchestra, a set of creatively processed sounds that evoke a vintage aesthetic, and The Drone Grid, which provides long, evolving textures for atmospheric scoring. The library's extensive range of articulations and performance techniques, combined with its thoughtful curation, makes it a versatile tool for composers looking to blend traditional and modern influences in their work.
